LIN, YING-CHIEH

Born in 1994, with a MFA in Plastic Arts from Tainan National University of the Arts, LIN currently lives and works in Tainan. LIN’s earlier works mostly comprise site-specific installations. The themes in her works often stem from experiences of mobility and habitation in daily life, along with a few spirits of Modernology.

In recent years, LIN has endeavored to integrate sculpture, video, text, and other forms of performance to explore the disparities in expression between individuals and collectives after social movements, as well as the interactive relationships between public spaces, commemorative sites, and contemporary communities. Through "mise-en-scene" and audience participation, LIN creates alternative, emotionally resonant spaces to probe the conditions and kinetic energy behind triggered events.

LIN’s works have been included in exhibitions at the Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art, Chiayi Art Museum, and Tainan Art Museum. She has received awards from NEXT ART TAINAN (2017), been selected for the Taoyuan Contemporary Art Award (2019), nominated for the Taishin Arts Award (2020), and supported by the Tianmei Art Foundation (2021).
